How to take care of our clothes

As much as we’d wish it to be true, clothes do not last forever. The simple fact of the matter is: they wear out. They deteriorate due to various factors such as weather conditions, friction, but also due to… inadequate care for them.

However, it is worth knowing that some clothes will last longer, and some will last for a shorter time. It is influenced by the quality of the selected materials. The big advantage of good quality synthetic materials (we use a Polish knitwear manufacturer specializing in clothing for high-performance athletes) is that they are sometimes 3 times more durable than 100% cotton knitwear. Both, of course, have their advantages and disadvantages – people who want to explore the topic should take a look at our post Why we decided to use synthetic materials.

We print all our patterns especially for you using sublimation printing, which penetrates deeply into the structure of the knitted fabric, which results in high print durability.

When you buy our bomber jacket, you can be sure that it will still look the same after many washes, and that many years of use won’t negatively affect the quality and vividness of the print. If, of course, you take care of it properly!

How to take care of our CACOFONIA clothes?

The universal rules for all our clothes:

  • Before putting it in the washing machine, turn the garment inside out.
  • Wash them in max. 30°C
  • Use high-quality detergents and (in case you use softener) high-quality fabric softener (yes, the quality of the detergents affects not only whether the laundry smells good, but also the durability of the fabric!)

No more ironing! Our clothes and accessories containing only synthetic materials (bomber jackets, scarves, pareos, T-shirts, leggings, bags) do not crease, so you can forget about ironing. Hang them up properly stretched and put them on immediately after removing them from the drying rack 🙂

How to take care of our hoodies?

Our sweatshirs and hoodies contain a significant admixture of cotton, thanks to which you’re embraced by a pleasant cotton fluff. Due to the presence of cotton, however, they require more diligent care than clothes made of 100% synthetic materials. Don’t worry, it’s easy!

Special instructions for our hoodies and sweaters:

  • Turn the clothes inside out before putting them in the washing machine
  • Wash them in max. 30°C
  • Use high-quality detergent and high-quality fabric softener (if use any)
  • Pay special attention that the washing machine with the does not contain any rough surfaces, Velcro, etc. The knitwear of the sweaters and hoodies may show small cotton “balls” on its surfaces when exposed to friction over a long period of time. Washing according to the recommendations will greatly minimize the likelihood of them occurring!
  • A properly hung up sweatshirt, taken out of the washing machine immediately after the cycle is completed, will not show creases after drying and will not require ironing.
  • However, if you feel the need to iron our sweatshirt (for example when traveling), remember that you have to be careful (polyester is flammable). Set the iron on low heat and iron inside out, preferably through a thin cotton cloth.

How to give our clothes a “second spring”?

Over time, sweatshirts with an admixture of cotton may “peel” – that is, small cotton balls may appear on them. They are inevitable in the case of admixtures of natural knitted fabrics. We know, we know, nobody likes those… but we have good news. Do not get rid of your sweater just yet! You can save it by “shaving” it carefully with a special fabric shaver. Be sure to choose a high-quality shaver so it does not pull out the material.

Here’s a before and after image of a sweater that’s been worn extensively (it is a sample sweater, heavily used to test its durability for you):

Looks like new, doesn’t it? 🙂

We strongly encourage you to choose clothes that will last for a long time. And if one article of clothing shows the first signs of use, don’t put it aside, just fix it! “Shave” the sweater, as in the example above, and darn the small hole that’s left. If you lose weight and the jacket becomes too big, and you still like the pattern, take it to a tailor who will fit it for you.

All these tips are part of the slow fashion trend that is very close to our hearts. We encourage you to buy clothes less often. But when you do, make sure that they’re high quality and therefore last longer. We urge you to fix minor signs of use instead of throwing away perfectly fine clothes. And don’t forget to choose Polish/European brands that produce in our continent and care for their employees. We offer you clothes that will allow you to really live in accordance with these values 🙂
